What do I love more than writing, books, chocolate, and coffee? My pets! Buying necessities for our pets is essential but can also be a pain in the butt. Having to lug heavy bags of food and litter from the store to the car and then into the house is exhausting.
My poor husband used to have to carry these monstrosities up a flight of stairs. Not anymore. One day I was talking to a friend of mine and she told me about Chewy. Chewy is a website where you can order just about anything you need for your pet and have it delivered to your door.
I was intrigued. I decided to try it and the rest is history. The site gets two paws up. Here is my review of Chewy. The selection on Chewy is absolutely amazing. They carry all the brands of food you see in the store as well as prescription food.
I absolutely love this because it saves me some money on my cat’s food compared to ordering from the vet. They also have a great selection of toys, treats, and cat trees. I bought him a treat ball that I use to make him work for his snack at night.
As of this writing, he has conveniently hid it somewhere. 🙂 I can’t find it. I’m also going to buy him a new cat tree for Christmas from this site.
Another thing I like is that they also have the essentials for small pets. We have a rabbit and I can order her hay, food, and litter easily. I recently ordered her a play pen and she absolutely loves it.
Although it’s not made to attach to her cage, my husband found a way to do it and now she can go in and out as she pleases. She absolutely loves it.
They also have a pet pharmacy that carries products for heartworm, fleas and ticks, pain relief and arthritis, skin & coat, allergy relief, ear and eye care, allergies, and health conditions.
The health conditions section goes even deeper into behavior and anxiety, de-wormers and parasites, digestive issues, etc. You are bound to find something to help with whatever ailment your fur baby has.
Great Prices and Auto ship
I find the prices to be very reasonable. As mentioned above, I have saved money on prescription food as well as flea treatment compared to other sites. For example, a 20 lb jug of Tidy Cats litter will cost me $10.99 on Petco.com but only $7.99 on Chewy.
My cat’s prescription food for a 7.7 lb bag costs $39.99 on Petco but only $35.99 on Chewy. It’s not a huge savings, but in my opinion, any money saved is a good thing.
I also love using Autoship. I can just order what I need and have it delivered as often as I need it. If I need to make a change, no problem. I just log into my account and make adjustments. I love not having to remember to order these much needed supplies.
I get an email when they ship and wait for them to show up. Another perk about Autoship is that you save 30% on your first order. In general, if you order $50 worth of products, you get free shipping.
This may sound like a lot, but believe me, it adds up fast. It is true what they say, your order does arrive in 1-2 days. My orders have always showed up within the two day time frame.
Customer Service
Chewy’s customer service is amazing. Every time I have called they have been a pleasure to talk to and answer my questions quickly and promptly.
The only time I have had an issue with an order is when I took a jug of litter out of the box that the cap was not on tight and it spilled all over the carpet.
After cleaning it up, I called customer service and she sent a new jug out right away at no charge. I even heard a story about a woman who put in an order for her dog and unfortunately, her dog passed before the order arrived.
She called Chewy and they told her to donate the order to a local animal shelter and that they would refund her purchase. The next day she came home to a bouquet of flowers from the company, expressing their condolences.
You can read more about that story here. Now THAT is what I call customer service. If you are looking to find great selection and prices, convenience and unbelievable customer service, give Chewy a try. You won’t be disappointed.
